[ Adult Endocrinology Telehealth - For Ages 18 years or older ] 🟢 INSULIN-TREATED DIABETES ...Because we know that managing your diabetes with insulin can be frustrating, and often cannot wait for the next office visit... The Insulin Clinic does not “take over” your usual long-term diabetes care or “replace” your routine provider however it was created to function as a source of support in the community, benefiting both the diabetic patients AND the healthcare providers by “bridging gaps in care”. If you are using insulin to treat your diabetes then you know that, “in the real world”, blood sugar patterns don’t always remain stable between visits and often require more frequent evaluation than can be performed in very busy local clinics, especially considering the prevalence of diabetes in Virginia. The Insulin clinic aims to “bridge” these gaps by offering evaluation and management online, from the comfort of your home (or anywhere). Your visit will be focused but not rushed, reviewing glucose levels/patterns together, and your insulin will be adjusted accordingly if appropriate. The intended result is to help you avoid any continued high or low blood sugars that could result in diabetes-related complications and emergency room visits. Insulin is the only diabetic medicine that will be managed, and urgent refills can be provided when needed. A 1-2 week home blood sugar log MUST be entered into our portal just before any visit (you will be guided). For now, all forms, insulin pump supplies and continuous glucose monitoring supplies (among other similar items) must continue to be managed by the full service office of your primary diabetes provider. 🟢 THYROID Have a thyroid condition ? You are welcome to our telehealth clinic for evaluation ! Conditions treated include hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Before requesting an appointment, be certain to obtain a copy of your most recent lab results since you will be required to upload it into our portal before your visit. ***Diagnoses of thyroid cancer should be evaluated "in-person", not through telehealth, since close examination of lymph nodes and a multidisciplinary treatment & surveillance approach is required. 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒: We will be increasing appointment availability slots so check back if needed, however we will certainly try to accommodate an “after hours” or weekend visit by special request if needed (use the contact link) ! This clinic does NOT manage Emergencies. If you have an emergency please call 911. There is one cash fee of $75 per visit for all patients, aiming to provide & improve accessibility to as many as need this endocrinology service.
